NBN DTD S 65-001: 2020 - Community and Artisan Masks - Guide of the minimum requirements, ready-to-wear, maintenance and use

VITO tests the penetration according to 8.4 and the air permeability according to 8.5 of the technical document NBN/DTD S 65-001: 2020.

NBN EN 14683:2019+AC:2019 Medical face masks - Requirements and test methods

VITO does not carry out these tests.

NBN EN 149+A1:2009 Respiratory protective devices - Filtering half masks to protect against particles - Requirements, testing, marking

The EN149 consists of various tests as described in table 1. VITO currently already has Belac accreditation for a shortened protocol, which includes a number of essential tests (shaded green in the table below) based on EN149. Accreditation for the full EN149 is expected in October 2020.

NBN EN 140:1999 Respiratory protective devices. Half masks and quarter masks. Requirements, testing, marking
VITO does not carry out these tests.

NBN EN 1827 : 1999 Respiratory protective devices - Half masks without inhalation valves and with separable filters to protect against gases or gases and particles or particles only - Requirements, testing, marking

VITO can carry out these tests but not under accreditation.

ATP - Alternative test protocol

The Alternative Test Protocol is a simplified test protocol for FFP2/FFP3 masks, only testing:

  • The maximum permissible values for the penetration of the filter material (“Penetration of Filter Material”, PFM). That is a measure of how permeable the fabric used in the mask is.
  • The maximum allowed total incoming leakage (“Total Inward Leakage”, TIL). That is a measure of how well the mask closes the face.

You can find more information about this here.

VITO can perform the filter penetration test with paraffin oil including conditioning (temperature, carrier simulation, flow rate) under accreditation in accordance with EN149 & EN 13274-7.
VITO can also perform the Fit test with the Portacount as described in the ATP protocol.
